South Korea, the Republic of Korea have gotten great benefits fro the United Nations. The United Nations prevented North Korea from invading us during Korean War. We will never forget the sacrifice of the United Nations Soldiers and American Soldiers.
남한 즉 대한민국은 유엔에 큰 은혜를 받아왔습니다. 유엔은 북한이 한국전쟁때 남한을 침략하는 것을 저지해주었습니다. 저희들은 유엔군과 미군의 희생을 결코 잊지 않을 것입니다.

Recently we happen to know there is a move to register Kwangju Incident to the List of UNESCO Memory of the World.
최근 우연히 광주사건을 유네스코 세계기록유산 리스트에 등재할려는 움직임을 알게 되었습니다.
We do not know about the information of the Proposal for UNESCO Memory of the World.
That's why we have some difficulty to write our petition.
저희는 유네스코 세계기록유산에 대한 제안 정보를 전혀 알지 못합니다.
때문에 저희들은 청원을 작성하는데 어려움을 겪습니다.
However just we know is that we have many proofs about the truth of Kwangju May 18 Incident. We will submit proofs to UNESCO Memory of the World sooner or later
여하튼 저희들이 아는 것은 저희들이 광주 5.18 사건에 대하여 많은 증거들을 가지고 있습니다. 저희들은 조만간 유네스코 세계기록유산에 증거들을 제출할 것입니다.
Kwangju Incident was a tragedy resulted in death of 166 civilians, 23 soldiers and 4 policemen. The toll of death was 164 civilians in 1980 Supreme Court's judgement and 166 civilians in 1997 Supreme Court's judgement.
광주사건은 166명 민간인 23명 군인 경찰 4명이 사망한 비극이었습니다.
사망자의 통계는 1980년 대법원판결에서는 민간인 164명, 1997년 대법원판결에서는 민간인 166명이었습니다.
Supreme Court judgement in 1980 and 1997 were nearly the same about the toll of death in civilians.
1980년과 1997년 대법원판결은 민간인 사망자 통계에 관한 한 거의 같은 수치였습니다.
However their judgement were quite different.
하지만 그들 판결은 너무나 달랐습니다.
Supreme Court judged Kwangju Incident as rebellion or insurrection in 1980 while Supreme Court judged Kwangju Incident as democratic revolution in 1997.
1980년 대법원은 광주사건을 반란 또는 폭동으로 판결한 것과 대조적으로 1997년 대법원은 광주사건을 민주주의 혁명으로 판결했습니다.
Kwangju May 18 film in North Korea as well as in South Korea denounced the United States, South Korea army and South Korea government as the principals of Kwangju massacre.
남한과 북한의 광주 5.18 영화는 모두가 다 미국과 한국군과 한국정부를 광주학살의 주범으로 규탄했습니다.
At last new incredible proofs about Kwangju Incident appeared to us when defectors from North Korea entered here in South Korea.

Ex- North Korea special force soldiers who are defectors in December 20, 2006 interviewed with the press about the truth of Kwangju Incident and recently even publishes a book named brilliant fraud drama May 18 substance quite different from Supreme Court judgement in 1997 and so called Kwangju Special Law.
전 북한 특수부대 군인 탈북자들이 2006년 12월 20일 광주사건의 진실에 관하여 언론과 인터뷰를 하였고 최근에는 그들이 화려한 사기극의 실체 5.18 이라는 책을 발간하였는데 1997년 대법원판결과 광주특별법과는 현저하게 다른 내용입니다.
They insisted that about 600 North Korea special force soldiers came to Kwangju and shoot and killed innocent Kwangju citizens as if South Korea soldiers killed Kwangju citizens. They disclosed that North Korea soldiers and spies spread rumor as if Kyungsang Province soldiers came to Kwangju to kill Cholla Province citizens.
그들은 약 600명의 북한특수군이 광주에 침투개입해 무고한 광주시민을 총으로 사살하고는 마치 남한 군인이 죽인 것처럼 날조했다고 주장했습니다.
그들은 북한군과 간첩이 마치 경상도 군인들이 전라도민들을 죽이려고 광주에 왔다는 루머를 퍼뜨렸다고 폭로했습니다.
TV and newspapers have not paid any attention to the witness of defectors. Yet the day will come when the truth will get victory.

South Korea's Kwangju Incident Revisited by Plank, Daryl M, in Heritage Foundation Asian Studies is a objective proof about the Kwangju Incident.
플랭크 다릴 M 해리티지재단의 아시아연구 남한 광주사건의 재조명이라는 보고서는 1985년에 작성한 광주사건에 관한 객관적인 증거입니다.

In the tradegy's aftermath, the government, together with a Kwangju-based relief organization, gave abour $ 16,000 to the families of each of the death.
비극이 끝나자 정부는 광주 민간기구와 함께 사망자 가족에게 16,000 달러씩을 주었습니다.
The government also paid medical expenses for all those wounded. Nearly $ 2 million was spent on emergency food and fuel for needy citizens, and assistance programs were initiated to help bring Kwangju back to normal. Grants were given to Kwangju citizens to reconstruct destroyed houses and businesses.

Many defectors from North Korea disclosed about 600 North Korea soldiers in special force came to Kwangju and killed innocent Kwangju citizens with Kelvin rifles during the investigation when they came here in South Korea at first.

What we are saying is that North Korea soldiers, their disturbance and alienation between Kwangju citizens and South Korea soldiers by their shooting to kill Kwangju citizens and their spreading malign rumor resulting in fighting each other between Kwangju citizens and South Korea soldiers.
저희가 말하려는 것은 북한군 그들이 광주시민을 사살하고 악성 유언비어를 퍼뜨려 광주시민과 국군사이를 교란하고 이간질시켜 서로 싸우게 만들었다는 것입니다.
What is the truth? Murderers were not South Korea soldiers but North Korea soldiers in special force dispatched by North Korea.
Murderers were not Kwangju citizens but North Korea soldiers.
무엇이 진실입니까? 살인자들은 한국군이 아니라 북한이 파견한 북한특수부대 군인들이었습니다. 살인자는 광주시민들이 아니라 북한군들이었습니다.
Innocent Kwangju citizens were pitiable victims ought to be protected.
South Korea soldiers ought not be called murderer soldiers any more.
South Korea government ought not be called murder government any more. All their broken honor must be restored.
무고한 광주시민들은 보호받아야 할 불쌍한 피해자들입니다. 남한군은 더 이상 살인군인들이라고 불리어 져서는 안 됩니다. 남한 정부도 더 이상 살인정권이라고 불리어 져서도 안 됩니다. 모두 그들의 훼손된 명예는 회복되어야 합니다.

Recently North Korea terror sinking our navy ship resulted in death of 46 navy soldiers. International investigation team denounced North Korea's terror sinking our navy ship.

That's why we are worried about distortion of the truth.

North Korea's invading South Korea during Korean War was war crime. Nevertheless here in Korea Pro North Korea civil groups and scholars has distorted the truth as if South Korea invaded North Korea at first contrary to the truth.
북한이 한국전쟁때 남한을 침략한 것은 전쟁범죄입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 여기 남한 침북 민간단체들과 학자들은 마치 남한이 한국전쟁에 먼저 북한을 침략한 것처럼 진리와 반대되도록 진리를 날조해 왔습니다.

As defectors have doubts, is it possible for Kwangju citizens to seized and take away weapons of 38 weapon arsenals in reserved forces and police station for only 4 hours.
탈북자들이 의문을 가진 것처럼 광주시민들이 불과 네 시간 만에 예비군과 경찰서에 보관된 39개의 무기고를 습격해 무기를 탈취하는 것이 과연 가능하겠습니까?
Many public institutions such as KBS, MBC, government official buildings were burned or destroyed. Even prison were attacked as many as 6 times.
KBS, MBC 등 많은 공공시설, 정부관공서가 불타고 파괴되었습니다. 심저어 교도소까지 6차례나 습격을 받았습니다.
These are impossible to Kwangju citizens.
These can not be called democratic revolution.
These are products of North Korea special force's crime and alienation between Kwangju citizens and South Korea soldiers.
이와 같은 것은 광주시민들에게는 불가능합니다.
이와 같은 것은 민주주의 혁명이라 불리워질 수 없습니다.
이와 같은 것은 북한특수부대의 범죄와 이간질의 산물입니다.

New Special Law and The Truth will save Kwangju citizens and the Republic of Korea
새로운 특별법과 진실이 광주시민과 대한민국을 구할 것입니다.
So called Kwangju Special Law made by ex-President Kim Young Sam's order regulates South Korea soldiers and South Korea government as murderer soldiers and murderer government.
김영삼 전 대통령의 명령에 따라 제정된 이른바 광주특별법은 남한군인들과 남한정부를 살인군인들과 살인정부로 규정합니다.
A group of defectors named United Free North Korea Soldiers consisting of ex- North Korea special force soldiers, a representative Lim Chun Yong denounced at the foreword of the book named a brilliant fraud drama May 18 the substance by saying that Kim Young Sam government put on Kwangju violent armed riot with a cloth of democratization and with democratic fighting not by substantial analysis and scientific evidence but by illegal compromise and abnormal coalition somewhat secret connection.

At the very moment we submit our petition, North Korea artillery strikes South Korean Yeonpyeong Island. Two marine were killed, more than a dozen injured. If we hide the truth of Kwangju Incident, North Korea will continue to threaten South Korea with military attack.
저희들이 청원서를 제출하는 바로 그 순간에 북한 포병부대가 남한 연평도 섬에 대포로 공격했습니다. 2명의 해병이 죽고 10여명이 다쳤습니다. 우리가 광주사건의 진실을 숨겨 은폐한다면 북한은 계속해서 남한을 군사도발로 위협할 것입니다.

We hope that Kwangju citizens their compensations paid already are to regard to be paid by new special law according to the truth of Kwangju Incident. New special law and the truth of Kwangju Incident will unite Kwangju citizens and South Korea army and government for better country and better democracy never threatened by North Korea dictatorship.

South Korea, the Republic of Korea have gotten great benefits fro the United Nations. The United Nations prevented North Korea from invading us during Korean War. We will never forget the sacrifice of the United Nations Soldiers and American Soldiers.
남한 즉 대한민국은 유엔에 큰 은혜를 받아왔습니다. 유엔은 북한이 한국전쟁때 남한을 침략하는 것을 저지해주었습니다. 저희들은 유엔군과 미군의 희생을 결코 잊지 않을 것입니다.
We sincerely thank the United Nations saving South Korea during Korean War. With the great help of the United Nations, South Korea enjoys prosperity and democracy while North Koreans have been suffering from dictatorship.

최근 우연히 광주사건을 유네스코 세계기록유산 리스트에 등재할려는 움직임을 알게 되었습니다.
We do not know about the information of the Proposal for UNESCO Memory of the World.
That's why we have some difficulty to write our petition.
저희는 유네스코 세계기록유산에 대한 제안 정보를 전혀 알지 못합니다.
때문에 저희들은 청원을 작성하는데 어려움을 겪습니다.
However just we know is that we have many proofs about the truth of Kwangju May 18 Incident. We will submit proofs to UNESCO Memory of the World sooner or later
여하튼 저희들이 아는 것은 저희들이 광주 5.18 사건에 대하여 많은 증거들을 가지고 있습니다. 저희들은 조만간 유네스코 세계기록유산에 증거들을 제출할 것입니다.
Kwangju Incident was a tragedy resulted in death of 166 civilians, 23 soldiers and 4 policemen. The toll of death was 164 civilians in 1980 Supreme Court's judgement and 166 civilians in 1997 Supreme Court's judgement.
광주사건은 166명 민간인 23명 군인 경찰 4명이 사망한 비극이었습니다.
사망자의 통계는 1980년 대법원판결에서는 민간인 164명, 1997년 대법원판결에서는 민간인 166명이었습니다.
Supreme Court judgement in 1980 and 1997 were nearly the same about the toll of death in civilians.
1980년과 1997년 대법원판결은 민간인 사망자 통계에 관한 한 거의 같은 수치였습니다.
However their judgement were quite different.
하지만 그들 판결은 너무나 달랐습니다.
Supreme Court judged Kwangju Incident as rebellion or insurrection in 1980 while Supreme Court judged Kwangju Incident as democratic revolution in 1997.
1980년 대법원은 광주사건을 반란 또는 폭동으로 판결한 것과 대조적으로 1997년 대법원은 광주사건을 민주주의 혁명으로 판결했습니다.
Kwangju May 18 film in North Korea as well as in South Korea denounced the United States, South Korea army and South Korea government as the principals of Kwangju massacre.
남한과 북한의 광주 5.18 영화는 모두가 다 미국과 한국군과 한국정부를 광주학살의 주범으로 규탄했습니다.
At last new incredible proofs about Kwangju Incident appeared to us when defectors from North Korea entered here in South Korea.
드디어 북한탈북자들이 남한에 들어오면서 광주사태에 관한 놀랄만한 새로운 증거가 나타났습니다.
Ex- North Korea special force soldiers who are defectors in December 20, 2006 interviewed with the press about the truth of Kwangju Incident and recently even publishes a book named brilliant fraud drama May 18 substance quite different from Supreme Court judgement in 1997 and so called Kwangju Special Law.
전 북한 특수부대 군인 탈북자들이 2006년 12월 20일 광주사건의 진실에 관하여 언론과 인터뷰를 하였고 최근에는 그들이 화려한 사기극의 실체 5.18 이라는 책을 발간하였는데 1997년 대법원판결과 광주특별법과는 현저하게 다른 내용입니다.
They insisted that about 600 North Korea special force soldiers came to Kwangju and shoot and killed innocent Kwangju citizens as if South Korea soldiers killed Kwangju citizens. They disclosed that North Korea soldiers and spies spread rumor as if Kyungsang Province soldiers came to Kwangju to kill Cholla Province citizens.
그들은 약 600명의 북한특수군이 광주에 침투개입해 무고한 광주시민을 총으로 사살하고는 마치 남한 군인이 죽인 것처럼 날조했다고 주장했습니다.
그들은 북한군과 간첩이 마치 경상도 군인들이 전라도민들을 죽이려고 광주에 왔다는 루머를 퍼뜨렸다고 폭로했습니다.
TV and newspapers have not paid any attention to the witness of defectors. Yet the day will come when the truth will get victory.
텔레비전과 신문들은 탈북자들의 증언에 아무런 관심을 보이지 않지만 진리가 반드시 승리할 날이 올 것입니다.
Because we firmly believe the truth will get victory just like so called a symbol of victory of the truth of a jew france soldier named Dreyfus falsely charged with Germany spy during world war.

플랭크 다릴 M 해리티지재단의 아시아연구 남한 광주사건의 재조명이라는 보고서는 1985년에 작성한 광주사건에 관한 객관적인 증거입니다.
The report saying about the truth of Kwangju incident as stated in the accompanying sheet is as follow
별지와 같이 보고서는 다음과 같이 광주사건의 진실을 전합니다.
Only two rioters were killed during the first two days of the confrontation in Kwangju Incident, nevertheless there were reports that as many as 40 people had been killed during the first day of strife : in fact, no one had been killed.

Toll of 191 deaths (foot note 164 civilians 23 soldiers 4 policemen) is correct.
191명 사망자 통계(필자 주, 164명 민간인, 23명 군인, 4명 경찰관)는 정확합니다.
In the tradegy's aftermath, the government, together with a Kwangju-based relief organization, gave abour $ 16,000 to the families of each of the death.
비극이 끝나자 정부는 광주 민간기구와 함께 사망자 가족에게 16,000 달러씩을 주었습니다.
The government also paid medical expenses for all those wounded. Nearly $ 2 million was spent on emergency food and fuel for needy citizens, and assistance programs were initiated to help bring Kwangju back to normal. Grants were given to Kwangju citizens to reconstruct destroyed houses and businesses.
정부는 또한 모든 부상자들을 위한 의료비용을 지불했습니다. 구호가 필요한 시민들에게 거의 2백만 달러가 비상식품과 연료가 사용되었고 구조 프로그램이 시작되어 광주가 정상으로 회복되는데 도움이 되었습니다. 파손된 집과 기업을 복구하는 보조금도 지급되었습니다.
Of the 2,522 citizens arrested during and immediately following the uprising, 404 were tried in military courts. All the penalties were reduced.
폭동 동안이나 직훙 2,522명 시민이 구속되었지만 404명만 군사법정에서 재판을 받았습니다. 하지만 모든 형벌은 모두 감형되었습니다.
All eventually were released and granted amnesty. No one arrested in connection with the Kwangju uprising remains in prison.
결국 모두가 석방되고 사면되었습니다. 아무도 광주폭동사건과 관련하여 교도소에 남아있는 사람은 아무도 없습니다.
The events of May 1980 were a deliberate plot by the ROK government to massacre innocent civilians in South Cholla Province. Nor was the U.S. involved in the incident.
