나경원이 간과한 매우 중요한 사실
나경원은 사안을 매우 단순화게 ‘지만원 한 사람’에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 그러나 지만원은 지난 8개월 동안 5.18을 학습하고 연구해온 32명의 팀을 지휘해야 할 사람이다. 한국당은 겨우 3명의 위원을 뽑는다. 그것이 사안의 전부인 줄로 착각한다. 그 중 한 사람은 상임위원이고 다른 2명은 회의 때에만 참석하는 비상근이다. 북한군에 대한 연구와 조사는 이 3명만으로 할 수 있는 일이 아니다. 32명의 연구인력 모두가 투입돼야 가능할 수 있다.
한국당은 3명만 달랑 선발하지만 국방부 실행령에 의하면 국방부는 이 한국당 지분 3명에 12명 정도의 조사관 숫자를 배당한다. 숫자만 배당할 뿐, 조사관 12명 정도는 3명의 위원이 자기들의 수족으로 선발해야 한다. 허허 벌판에 달랑 3명이 들어가 12명의 조사관을 갑자기 뽑아 사용하라 하면 준비 안 된 사람이 어디에서 누구를 선발하여 유능한 조사관으로 활용하겠는가?
그런데 지만원에게는 지난 8개월 동안 5.18을 학습하고 연구한 전문가 12명이 팀으로 존재한다. 이 숫자도 모자라 또 다른 20명으로 구성된 “5.18연구학회” 브레인들이 외부에서 돕도록 시스템화 돼있다. 지만원이 탈락하면 이 모두가 탈락하는 것이다. 이것이 문제의 본질이다. 나경원은 이 문제를 알려고도 하지 않고 달랑 3명만 뽑으면 되는 줄 안다. 3명이 무슨 수로 상근도 안 하면서 그 방대한 문제를 연구하겠는가? 나경원의 머리에는 이렇게 중요한 국방부 시행령이 없다. 광주 쪽은 이미 수백 명이 라인업 돼 있다고 한다.

Nah Kyong-Won is focusing on ‘only one individual of Jee Man-Won’ taking it for an utterly simple matter. Jee Man-Won, however, is the one who is to command the task force of 32 researchers and investigators who have been studying the May 18th for the last eight months. Liberty Korea Party is supposed to select only three committee members. She is mistaken to think that’s all about the matter. Among them, one will be a standing committee member, and the other two will be non-standing member who will take part only in the meetings. The volume of the research and investigation can not be fulfilled by these three committee members. It will be made possible if and when all these 32 personnel are put into it.
While Liberty Korea Party is to do the simple work of selecting only three committee members. Defense Ministry is to allot about 12 assistants of investigation officials to the three committee members. What the Ministry is to allot is only the numbers. The three members are supposed to select the 12 or so investigators for their hands and feet(assistants) among their personnel pool. When the three members enter an empty plain and were asked all of a sudden to select 12 investigators who would be able to assist them, how can they, who are unprepared for it, select whom and from where to employ as competent investigator?
Jee Man-Won has a team of 12 experts who have studied and made research on the May 18 for the last eight months. As this number was rather not enough, an organization of “the May 18th Research Society” composed of another 20 brains are systemized to help Jee Man-Won from outside. If Jee Man-Won is rejected, all of them will also have to be rejected. This is the true nature of the problem. Nah Kyong-Won would not want to know about this, but she thinks that all she has to do is to select the only three members. How can the only three members carry out all the investigation on this huge subject with what means even not doing full-time duty? Nah Kyong-Won does not have the Enforcement Ordinance on her mind, which is so important like it. Gwangju side are said to have already completed lining up hundreds of personnel.
